Trip to America, part two

Our second hostes were Lenore and Bill Usher in Watson (Cornell) in
Michigan. Lenore is a grdaughter of our grandmother Leena Roihas´ sister
Albertina, who married in Finland to Heikki Peippo.
I told in my first part of this story some things about the visit to
Michigan. Please, do forgive me, that I go back to the same things. I just have
done now something more to that site.
On our trip to Marquette we had a lunch (subs) in the park of Presque
Isle. It is a very beautiful park on the shore of the Lake Superior. Lenore
told us that years before there was also different animals, so it was one kind
of a zoo. Nowadays there are just seagulls! After the lunch we drove in there
admiring its´nature and Lake Superior.

We did have very good sessions to discuss about the history of our
family. And that was one meaning of our trip. Of course the first one was to
meet relatives, but a good second one was the knowledge of old times of their
ancestors after their immigration to US. We were able to do that also with
Helen in Mystic, Ct. As well as Helen, also Lenore has many, many interesting
old photos. Fortunately Taimi could recognize many people from those photos. I
had no possibility to do that, because I did not meet them at the time I could
remember. We got very much information about the life of relatives about the
first decades of 1900´s. They really did not had easy life all the time!
In spring, when we were making plans for the trip, Helen told me, that
at Lenores´ it would be able for me to drive also ATV at the woods. I was
totally shocked, because I never before had heard the name ATV. I wrote to Helen,
that I´ll NEVER will do that! It took from Sunday till Friday to think about
it. Finally on Friday I thouhgt that untill that day I hade made many important
decisions in my life, so I took me from my neck and tried…
Have to tell, it was fun…
As I told in the first part of my trip, Joanne, Joel and Thomas Dufresne
came from Minnesota on Saturday, 9th of July to Lenores´ and Bills´
home. For that evening Lenore had arranged a "sauna- event" to her
fathers´ home. There were many neighbors. BUT, no one of them had a
couridge to go to sauna! Joanne, Taimi and I did enjoyed of the warmth of it
from our hearts!

And during the time the relatives from Minnesota were in Michigan we (also
I) did enjoyed from the driving on ATV!
Allthough I was practiced allready two days, I just wonder, why Joanne
and Thomas did not want to be in the same photo with me???
When Joanne, Joel and Thomas were in Mich, we were visiting in many
places. For instance a farm of the deers. There were magnificent animals. Also
we were in the farm of Lenores´ and Bills´ daughter Marilyn and her husband
Dennis.
They have for instance a cattle of the Longhorns of Texas. Those are
magnifisiant animals, and if you have never seen them, you cannot imagine their
horns!
Sunday evening was a very emotional one. We had had again a
wonderful week with Lenore and Bill, also Marilyn and Dennis, Janet and Gary,
Cindy and Bob, Eileen and Ronald. They came to say goodbye to us, because in
the morning of monday we should go further. We got so many memories, so good
feelings, again!
But, as allways, you have to go on...
